IRS representation
Help reading and answering IRS letters, with a CPA who can speak to the IRS for you, in English or Spanish.

In short
MTroncone CPA helps individuals and businesses answer IRS notices, prepare for audits and request payment plans. With a signed Form 2848, a licensed CPA can represent you before the IRS, receive copies of notices and respond on your behalf. We start by reading the letter with you, confirming the response date and recommending a next step. The outcome is decided by the IRS.
Who it is for
- Anyone who received an IRS notice or letter and wants to understand it
- Individuals and businesses selected for an IRS audit
- Taxpayers with a balance due who want to set up a payment plan
- People with unfiled or incorrect past returns who want to come back into compliance
- Spanish-speaking taxpayers who want the IRS process explained in Spanish
What we do
- A reading of the notice: what it asks, for which tax year and by what date
- Analysis of your case and a recommended strategy, in writing
- Form 2848 power of attorney, so a CPA can speak with the IRS for you and receive copies of notices
- Written responses with supporting documents, for example to a CP2000 proposed change
- Audit support: preparing the records and handling communication with the examiner
- Payment plan requests and the other payment options the IRS offers
- Late or amended returns to bring past years into compliance
- Requests for IRS Appeals or a collection due process hearing, when they apply and the deadline allows

If you want us to speak with the IRS, you sign Form 2848.
- 04

We prepare and send the response, then follow the case until the IRS closes it or the next step is clear.
What to bring

- Earlier letters and replies on the same matter
- Proof of any payment already made
Frequently asked questions
How do I know a letter is really from the IRS?
The IRS normally makes first contact by mail. Find the notice number in the corner of the letter and look it up on IRS.gov, or check your IRS Online Account. The IRS does not ask for payment with gift cards and never contacts you first through social media.
What does Form 2848 allow you to do?
It authorizes an eligible representative, such as a CPA, to represent you before the IRS, receive your confidential tax information and get copies of notices for the matters and tax years listed on the form.
Can you remove penalties or reduce what I owe?
No one can promise that. We check whether the amount is correct and whether any relief the IRS offers applies to your case, and we present it with the documents that support it. The IRS makes the decision.
What if I cannot pay the full balance?
Paying what you can by the due date limits interest and penalties. The IRS lists its payment options at IRS.gov/payments, including payment plans you can request online, and we can help you choose and request one.
Do I have to speak with the IRS myself?
With Form 2848 in place, your representative can handle calls, letters and meetings with the IRS for the matters and tax years listed on the form.
